I. SUMMARY OF LEARNING THEORY

1.Hot zone

  • On Earth, there are 5 climate belts:
    • 1 belt of hot zone environment
    • 2 belts of temperate climate
    • 2 belts of cold environment
  • The hot zone lies about halfway between the North and South Tropics
  • In the hot zone, there are 4 types of environment:
    • Humid equatorial environment
    • Tropical environment
    • Tropical monsoon environment
    • Desert environment

2. Humid equatorial environment

The humid Equatorial environment is mostly between $5^{0}B$ and $5^{0}N$

a. Climate

  • Hot, humid, large annual temperature range, large day-night amplitude (All year round hot over $25^{0}C$, humidity >80%, temperature range about $3^{0}C$)
  • Rain a lot, rain all year round. (From 1500-2500 mm/year)

b. Green forest all year round

  • The equatorial climate is humid, hot and rainy all year round, creating favorable conditions for the green forest to grow all year round
  • The forest has many layers, is dense, green all year round and has many species of birds and animals live.
  • We need to protect forests and endangered animals

In the hot zone, there are 4 types of environment:

  • Humid equatorial environment
  • Monsoon humid tropical environment

Based on Figure 5.1, we see that: The humid equatorial environment is located mainly on both sides of the equator in the range from 5°B to 5°N.

What is the average temperature of the hot zone?

Answer:

  • When looking at the rainfall chart of Singapore, we see that the temperature line has little fluctuation and is at a high level of over $25^{0}C$, hot all year round. The average annual temperature ranges from $25^{0}C$ $28^{0}C$ , the summer and winter temperature ranges are as low as $3^{0}C$.
  • Average from 1,500mm 2,500mm/year. Rain is distributed evenly between months of the year. The lowest monthly rainfall is May, July, September with 170mm, the highest monthly rainfall is November and December with 250mm => Thus, the difference in rainfall between the highest month and the lowest month is about 80mm.

Answer:

Based on photos and slices, we can see that the year-round green forest has 5 main floors.

The forest here has so many layers because of the high temperature and humidity, the plants here are very developed

The environment of the hot zone is distributed mainly in the limits of which latitudes? Name the environmental types of the hot zone?

Answer:

The hot zone environment is located about halfway between the two Tropics, extending continuously from West to East to form a belt around the Earth.

The hot zone has four types of environment:

  • Humid equatorial environment
  • Tropical environment
  • Tropical monsoon environment
  • Desert environment.

Question 2: What are the characteristics of the humid equatorial environment?

Answer:

  • The humid equatorial environment has a hot and humid climate all year round. The temperature difference between the highest and lowest months is very small (about 3°C), but the difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures is up to 10°C.
  • The average annual rainfall is from 1500 to 2500mm, it rains all year round, the closer it is to the Equator, the more rain it gets. Humidity is also very high, averaging over 80%, so the air is humid and stuffy.
  • The forest grows densely, there are many species.

This is a shot of the evergreen jungle all year round. Thanks to the floors in the forest. Graph A is suitable for a forest scene because it is a climate chart with abundant rainfall all year round, hot year round (above $27^{0}C$) and low annual temperature range ($1^{0}C$ $2^{0}C$)
